Independence Day in America
This poem is presented in honor of those who have worked to found and keep this “one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
Some say that America isn’t mentioned in Biblical prophecy. Others find that she is. My hope is that America is synonomous with Israel–that we will continue to stand and be identified with the people of God, that we will not turn back on our commitment to Israel’s defense, and that we shall never forget nor deny that “In God We Trust.”
These are amazing times. Every generation has perhaps deemed themselves the last; but the signs have never been more ominous than now. Look and see that these next few years (be they granted unto us) portend great change. The tension is palpable. Hold on to your Faith and continue in Love. Hosanna!
A Nation’s Strength
by Ralph Waldo EmersonWhat makes a nation’s pillars high
And it’s foundations strong?
What makes it mighty to defy
The foes that round it throng?It is not gold. Its kingdoms grand
Go down in battle shock;
Its shafts are laid on sinking sand,
Not on abiding rock.Is it the sword? Ask the red dust
Of empires passed away;
The blood has turned their stones to rust,
Their glory to decay.And is it pride? Ah, that bright crown
Has seemed to nations sweet;
But God has struck its luster down
In ashes at his feet.Not gold but only men can make
A people great and strong;
Men who for truth and honor’s sake
Stand fast and suffer long.Brave men who work while others sleep,
Who dare while others fly…
They build a nation’s pillars deep
And lift them to the sky.
God bless America!
And consider the words of an Arapahoe spokesman, Nippawanock: It’s time. If you are to walk the path of heart, then it is time…
Yes, you know who you are. You know that it is time. It is time for us to realize that the night is far gone; the day is at hand (Romans 13:12). It is time for us to wake up and not just go to church, but to be the Church. As America yearned for, fought for, and declared its independence; so must we. We are not slaves of this world’s incessant demands. We are the children of the Living God.
Amen.
